Supervision

Clinicians practicing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) are required to receive regular supervision with an appropriate supervisor.

Adam Getty has experience of working with trainee and qualified therapists, and has a Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) in Clinical Supervision. Whilst working in IAPT, he supervised trainee psychological therapists and more recently, has supervised trainee CBT therapists on a University affiliated post graduate diploma CBT course. Adam has also supervised qualified practitioners on a one to one basis and in a group format.

I believe that supervision should focus on the welfare of the client but also needs to include knowledge attainment, attitude refinement and skills development.  Depending on where you are in your career will determine how much we focus one each area.  As you develop as a clinician, supervision can become more reflective and less skills driven in order for you to reach your supervision goals and to allow you to provide the best treatment for your clients whilst looking after yourself.
